A Thank You

thanksThis past Sunday we held our 3rd Annual Walk for Thomas in Calgary.
We were once again overwhelmed by the attendance, and welcomed over 350 on a brisk Sunday Calgary morning.  We raised over $27000, all of which will be going again to the Thomas Mueller Phage Display Project.

We were thrilled to welcome Diana Birrell, Executive Director of The James Fund, to our event this year.

This event simply wouldn’t be possible without the outpouring of support from our volunteers and our participants as well as the following sponsors:

Dairy Lane

Master Meats

Queen Elizabeth Elementary School

Gravity Espresso & Wine Bar

We will be hosting the 3rd Annual Walk for Thomas on Sunday, October 20th at Queen Elizabeth Elementary School in West Hillhurst, Calgary (402 18 St NW).

We were overwhelmed by the generous outpouring of participants last year, and had over 250+ participants. Thanks again to the extremely generous offerings from our kind sponsors and volunteers.

Similar to the past 2 years, the morning of October 20th will go as follows:

9:00am Wake-Up Refreshments

9:45am Welcome and Warm-up

10:00am Depart for 3km Walk

11:00am BBQ (back at the school)

We will have Peloton 65/Walk for Thomas merchandise for sale and will also be accepting donations at the event. If you cannot make the event and still wish to donate, please feel free to visit the donation page. All funds raised at the event support The Phage Display project, an innovative project being co-led by Dr. Paul Beaudry at the University of Calgary and Dr. David Kaplan at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

We hope for another special Walk, where people will gather to remember Thomas and to unite again in the fight against neuroblastoma.

Thanks again and here is hoping for sunshine on the 20th!

Peloton 65 Riders Represent in The Pyrenees

Starting on Monday, September 16th, two Peloton 65 riders will be heading out on an intense 10 day ride through the Pyrenees.
Phil Mueller, Thomas’ Dad, and Paul Beaudry,  the co-lead of the Phage Display Project, an innovative research project that is the sole beneficiary of all Peloton 65 fundraising efforts, have been training for months, and on the 16th begin this amazing adventure.
The Rapha Cent Cols Challenge Pyrenees route is one of three rides, and is considered the most rural and technical of the rides. Ten days without crossing a major town, this route has some of the steepest climbs and the roughest roads.
Phil and Paul will be riding an average of 200 km per day and climbing roughly 4500 meters in total, wearing the Peloton 65 kit proudly.
Follow their progress here and on Facebook (Phil’s personal Facebook page if you follow him, and Peloton 65 Facebook page).
Ride strong, Phil and Paul!
