Peloton 65

Thomas Mueller

June 26, 2004 – September 30, 2011

Every year in Canada, roughly 65 children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Our son Thomas was diagnosed in 2007, and fought the disease with immense courage and bravery. Thomas died early on September 30th, in his parent’s arms.

Peloton 65 is a growing group of cyclists, family and friends united in the fight against neuroblastoma. We’ve already raised nearly $80,000 for the Alberta Ride to Conquer Cancer (2009-2011), and from this point forward, 100% of our fundraising efforts will benefit The James Fund for Neuroblastoma Research. This disease needs to be stopped. Please help with your donation.

  1. Hi Dianne and family,

My heart is with you. I feel the pain and struggle as deep as you. My oldest son, Patrick, was born on May 24, 2004. He is only one month older than Thomas. It’s not hard for me to imagine your loss and suffering.

I lost my father two years ago, I can’t say I am over it now. I still miss him. It still hurts. I will be living in the memory for the rest of my life, til the day comes when I can see him again.

The book “Many Lives, Many Masters”, helped me a lot in getting over the deep sorrow. Please take a look. Hope it can bring you some relief as it did to me!

  5. Despite the fact that I never met Thomas personally I always felt like I knew him. He was born on my birthday and you were pregnant with him at the same time Kristin was carrying Kailin. I guess that is why I took this news so hard today. I really feel for you and Phil. I don’t even have the words. But, I know that In heaven he is no longer sick and his time will pass with a smile on his face until you are all reunited again.

  18. Di, Phil & Anna,
We are all so saddened by your loss. We will miss Thomas’ sweet and happy smile and his cheerful waves from across the street on the way to and from school. Caroline had fun with him in their class.
When butterflies were released at school on Friday morning after the Terry Fox Run, I could not help but be moved by this powerful symbol–each one a small, fragile and beautiful creature being set free with lightness and grace. I thought of Thomas, no longer in pain, but flying about the schoolyard just as he did with so many friends. He will be sadly missed and always remembered. Our hearts are with your whole family at this time.

  19. ~Di, Phil, & Anna,

  30. Words cannot describe the sadness we feel. So sorry for your loss. We will always remember what a beautiful child Thomas was.

  31. Thomas was one of my students in my grade one classroom last year and it was truly a pleasure to have him there. He was full of energy and enthusiasm and was a friend to everyone! In gym I remember Thomas always running faster than everyone and smiling every minute we were there! I miss him and I hope that he is okay now. Diane and Phil you raised an amazing young man and you should be so proud of everything that he stood for! We all loved Thomas.
    Kim Godman

  32. Di, Phil & Anna,

I am thinking of Thomas sitting beside me at dinner a year ago when all of a sudden he was no where to be found until we heard clunk, clunk, clunk coming down the stairs. There he was fully dressed in his new Dracula costume, boots and all. This moment sums up my experience with Thomas and how will always remember him – full of adventure, happiness, courage, humour and life.

Over the last year, I have worn my special Peleton65 jersey with pride and have been inspired by Thomas every pedal along the way. I will continue to do so with more energy, inspiration and determination to fight cancer than ever before.

I am blowing every ounce of positive energy I can to all of you in Calgary and to your special angel that I am so grateful to have met.

    Loads of love,

    Joanne

  41. Di,Phil, Anna, and Family

I just heard the news about Thomas, and I’m at lost for words, all I can say is that
I’m very sorry to hear this, I remember Thomas as a very funny little guy and loved life very much, when you guys came to the Bistro for lunch once and a while. I read his Bio, and see not much really changed, he was a special guy, and well loved by all who had the privilege to know him, and to be his friend. He came from a great family, who I know will get through this difficult time together.

    Beth

  42. Di and Phil,
Meeting Thomas at the 2010 Ride to Conquer Cancer was a highlight. He was quiet that day and if I remember did not want to smile for a picture …. typical kid! Sadness overwhelmed us as we heard of Thomas’ death. Our thoughts are with you as you go through this incredibly difficulty time.

  44. There are no words…
    Thomas should be here.
He should be home with his family.
He should be playing with his friends.
He should be having fun in Grade 2.
    This world makes no sense.
Thomas was just a happy, funny, innocent little boy.
Di and Phil, you are living what all parents are too afraid to even imagine.
    I am so so sorry.
We will remember your sweet Thomas always.
    With tears and hugs,
    Patti and Thomas’ buddies, D & C
